    Embracing Innovation

    Conversation Starter

To establish a more optimistic mindset, four areas of innovation have been chosen to highlight the cost-effectiveness of innovation:

    • land-based wastewater treatment as an alternative to conventional “industrial processing” especially in an era of increasingly restrictive effluent measures
    • managing rainwater supply as an in-situ resource as an alternate to constrained remote reservoirs
    • matching pavement service levels to manageable life cycle costs as compared to budgeting based on taxpayer capacity without service level engagement
    • using modular concrete components for sidewalks & curbs instead of poured in place concrete which requires replacement with each settlement event

All will focus on the opportunity from the executive and governance perspective:

    • land-based treatment offers lower cost, lower risk, and biomass value
    • in-situ water management offers lower risk, higher quality water resources
    • matching road budget to service level offers greater taxpayer control and support
    • modular concrete offers higher durability, lower maintenance, & greater safety
