First National Infrastructure Summit

With 350 participating delegates from across Canada and speakers from Canada, the US, Australia and the Netherlands, the National Infrastructure Summit was a tremendous success. The Summit marked a new era in how we as governments and our partners in the private sector will plan, prepare and manage infrastructure in Canada.

We heard from delegates and presenters that what this country needs is a well thought out, strategic and sustainable, long-term plan for infrastructure. At the conclusion of the Summit, I was pleased to announce the 2012 National Infrastructure Summit, hosted by the City of Regina, as well as the formation of a working group, comprised of government and private sector representatives that will develop a National Infrastructure Strategy. Progress on the strategy will be reported at the National Infrastructure Summit in Regina in June 2012.
